かぶせ茶 (Kabusecha Takamado 2013)

 

Like the Gyokuro, the Kabuse-cha is also a shaded tea, hence the name Kabuse, which comes from Kabusu, which means to cover. There are a few important differences between this tea and Gyokuro. Kabusecha is typically only 70% shaded where as Gyokuro is 90% shaded, this means that only 30% of the rays of light are allowed to reach the plantation. Another major difference is the cultivar used for this type of tea. It is basically a covered Sencha, using the popular Yabukita cultivar.
